I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
Hello I'm Kaitlyn.
May 4, 2018
There have been little posts and about me's but I realized I have never written a blog post to REALLY introduce myself. So hi there I'm Kaitlyn! I run Earthside Birth Services with Liz. Let me start with the basics.
I live on a farm with my husband and two kids, Charlie (2 this month) and Brooks (4 months). I'm the oldest of 8 kids. My want for a big family definitely comes from them. My lifestyle is somewhere between not crunchy enough for some and too crunchy for most. I am also probably the most socially awkward person you will ever meet. Small talk is not my jam, talk to me about my passion projects though and I can talk your ear off. I have mad love for farmhouse style, chinese food and my two life dreams. Homesteading and Earthside Birth services.
Our homestead consists of two dogs, lots of chickens and a pot belly pig named Dudley. He has lived with us for 6 years now and started as a "teacup pig". BAHA Should have known not to trust a sketchy Craigslist ad. At one point we milked dairy goats too but quickly realized we like camping more than raw milk. ;) We have 3 gardens and I can/ preserve much of what we eat throughout the year as well as cook from scratch as much as possible. Our little homestead is a dream of mine that has grown since we moved in together in 2012. I hope to add bees and cows someday soon.
My other obvious passion is birth and motherhood. There's rarely a time you will catch me without a baby on my hip. I absolutely love pregnancy and birth. If you ask my husband he will tell you a little "too much". He often says that I can relate anything to kids and/or birth. I mean he's not wrong! I have been known to watch Birthtube at all hours of day and night. My love for birth is real. My dream would be to be a birth and postpartum doula for rural area women. As well as find ways to connect and support local women. I feel so pulled to this work and want it to succeed so so bad.
I could go on and on (hence the passion projects talk) but will save that for another post. Hope this gives you a little more insight into my life and the craziness that it is!
